Shadow Photography

For this photo I took a self portrait and used a styrofoam cup I cut stars into to make the lights. This photo uses contrast with the bright stars agains the dark photo as well as shape with my use of the star shape. I'm overall content with how it turned out. I like the stars and I think it's an interesting photo, but I wish it was less blurry and grainy.

I used paper in this photo to cut out a sun shape that has a light and shadow side. My original concept was to cut the spikes off so the shadow would look like the moon, but after I cut it I liked this version best and I still think it has a cool contrast between each side.

To make this photo I used a flashlight to cast the shadow of a lamp against the wall. I thought all the shapes and details the lamp have make for a really interesting photo and I'm really happy with how it came out.

For this photo I used another styrofoam cup, this time with heart cut outs, and cast the shadow against my book. I think it looks sort of like a shadow from a tree with light coming through the leaves. Blue LED lights were on in class and I think the slight blue and coolness makes for an ethereal feeling

For this picture I originally wanted to ask Luke to make shadow puppets but then I thought a heart shape, with an edited pink tone, would make for a more compelling photo. I think the end result is pretty charming but this is another photo I wish was less grainy.

This was the first idea I had planned on doing. I wanted to use a styrofoam cup (same star shapes as the first picture) to make a little galaxy on Luke's face. It was a bit harder than I thought to get the shapes right and the angles right and hold my phone to take a picture. This photo wasn't originally meant to be blurry but I liked it a lot more than the clear photos like this one. I think the blur adds a lot more interest. I do still wish this photo wasn't grainy either, apparently taking pictures with your phone in the dark has its downfalls.
